Give Them. . .

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 32179

But as luck would have it, something ELSE was in the works! The Company Boys were in town . . .

And had not only neautralized the Spartans, but had actually captured the High Lord himself! Oh, there had been a few . . . losses on their side, but only a few, despite the heavy opposition they had faced! Even with the spiritual powers the Living Land shaman had at their fingertips, the Company boys had done it.

Why?

Well, you see, 'tis simple enough. There is nothing quiet like a squad of Avatar Units in action. Even if these particular Avatar units (Company brand) were a bit more than a decade behind their Military counterparts. A lot of effort and resources had been used to make sure the Military was able to pull ahead there (details of which would be messy and wrong to reveal here and now). Suffice to say, it gave our heroes, because of Inquirer's knowledge due to her contacts still within the Military Intelligence community how to spoof their sensors with just the right kind of spell combinations.... She usually wouldn't have revealed such techniques even to her close friends within the TARDIS, but THIS was different, if you haven't already guessed. John's wormhole data made it so...

Ooh, what's an Avatar Unit? Why, those were humanoid remote controlled robotic units styled after that one scifi movie, The Terminator. An Avatar unit was, basically, a Golem body without the magic union which turns them from merely a product of science into a hybrid of magic and science (like what Inquirer's kind is, really).

But then again, let's not panic. See, the avatar units are piloted (except for one in particular) by human beings! Thus, this means that human failings can creep in and thus while being lax after a walkover, all the Company men do a comedic double take when they see that their prisoner, the High Lord, had been swiped from under their very noses!

Amazing what a few invisibility spells (and a Golem holding a frightened High Lord's snout shut) can do, eh?

Let us just say that Agent Smith and Scorpius are LESS than pleased! Oh, the transporter getting them from England to here had impressed them to no ends, but now? Well....

This task would have been so much easier (and done much sooner) if resources wouldn't kept being diverted in trying to track down that one undead High Lord from ORRORSH! If they could have at least one Stealth Avatar unit. . . but . . . no.

"I was wondering when they'd show up," Elrondir quipped as Inquirer herds/wrestles the reptillian High Lord into the Device that the Doctor had set up. "Get IN there STUPID!!" Inquirer shouts, finally losing patience and bodily throwing the struggling thing within.

The door slams close and the High Lord pounds at on it, screaming obscenties at the "Perversion of Nature" that had dared touch him. The Doctor, finally tired of it all, flips a switch and the small room that the High Lord is in brightens to a blinding glare and . . . the High Lord screams and faints.

Hey, it was said that the High Lords would be able to survive the process, but sometimes (dependant upon the species) it proves to be VERY painful. Case in point here and now with this one, you see.

After seeing to their prisoner (and securing him for when he awakens later, if later, before they offload him into some kind of offical custody), Inquirer and the others gather for a bit of war planning (back on Moya, to be able to include Pilot and Moya). Basically, it was a question of which of the remaining High Lords to go after next. But before that to lighten the mood before the seriousness to come. . . .

  1. "So, what should we call 'Junior'?" E'eysha asks, smiling with a fey gleam in her eyes.
