Sadly, Fred shook his head as he realized what he had done. It was too bad
for Velus, but at least he would be human...then he noticed that the dog
was not changing. And Velus seemed almost to be smiling at him--very
happily! He wasn't just glowing, he was beaming!
Fred shook his head, this time to clear the strange feeling in his head.
With horror, he realized as he ran the spell through his head once more,
that he hadn't used the accusative for "him", he had used it for "ME"!
Despite his panic, he unwillingly felt a smile beginning to curve on his
lips. And his body...Fred had never been called ugly, per se, but the
maidens hadn't always chased after him either. But he could feel his body
strengthening, muscles firming, gut receding, and hair growing thicker--in
more places than one!
At last, the strange feelings stopped and left only an echo of a tingling
sensation. Velus barked once, then twice.
"Velus? Tell me it's not true." Fred's voice came out deep and smooth, but
with masculine strength. Like black velvet over steel. Velus
telepathically told Fred to feel his forehead.
Fred's breath caught in its throat as he realized what he had become.
Feeling his forehead, he felt a smooth stone imbedded in the skin--the
sign of all brothel whores!
