Fred was naturally rather embarrassed, but it helped that Astra was also
naked and that she seemed totally unconcerned by either his or her own
nudity. "I did try to warn you about not trying to put those bandages on
me," was her opening remark.
"Yes, you did, but it seemed so ridiculous that I couldn't believe it," Fred admitted. "So what happened to you after I died?" "I didn't last too much longer. The dragon tracked me down, recaptured me, and had me killed. Ever since, I've been floating through this nothingness. I don't know how long for, but it's so boring that it feels like it's been a thousand years." "It seems like that long to me too," Fred agreed. "It's strange. If this is the afterlife, then where is everybody? You're the first person that I've seen in all this time." "I suppose everything that's happened to us, from when you seemed to crumble into dust, couldn't be a dragon-induced hallucination?" Astra asked. "I doubt it. Could he make it seem to us like a thousand years when it wasn't? Maybe where we are for the afterlife is simply so huge that the chance of bumping into anyone else is very small?"
