At Last!

As our attackers approach, they are taken by surprise by being attacked themselves from their side. And wonder of wonders, I can see that it's those whom we have been seeking who have come to our aid. Times two, actually. For, as we had gathered from our conversation with the centauress a little while ago, there are not just one Fertal and one Artizza but two of each. With so many analogs, a nasty thought occurs to me. Supposing neither of these couples is the one that we want, but instead there is yet another couple out there somewhere? But I tell myself that we've got quite enough troubles as it is, without going looking for even more.

Facing enemies on two fronts, the attackers soon break and run, leaving at least one of their number behind them, dead.

The two Fertals and Artizzas approach us cautiously, ready to go for their weapons at a moment's notice if we make a hostile move. I can't blame them for that. I don't suppose that they have any way of being sure who's friend and who is foe.

1. When they have closed to within talking range, one of the Artizzas (who seems to have recently had a not very expert haircut) says: "Hello! We may be doing a very silly thing in approaching you."
