A Trick Shower

Fred decided that the shower surely had a purpose if it had been placed
here. Perhaps it imparted special protection in its waters. Before he
took his clothes off, he decided to step into it. As he did so, the
floor of the shower collapsed under him. It was only a flimsy flap!
He slid down a long chute, bumped onto a solid floor in a hot room, and then gingerly stood up. He was in a large room filled with machinery. Various tubes branched off from the main one. Each entered a stone box that was twice as high as a man. On the floor, Fred spied a large, dusty book, shoved half out of sight as though it had been hidden. It appeared to be some type of manual. He was interrupted by the lava man. The lava man chased him in circles. Fred scooped up the manual and hid in a niche. He thought maybe the manual would help him fightthe lava man.
