The Siamese

"Yes, but somebody else, a very powerful magic user by the look of it, wanted us alive," Astra responded, thinking of the disappearing floor and the Catch-All spell. "I wonder what he - or she - wants us for. It seems unlikely that we were saved out of simple kindness."

Fred merely shrugged. As far as he could see, there was no way of telling just yet what the motives of their rescuer might be.

Then something emerged from behind a seat, and Fred readied his poker and Astra her (originally Fred's) sword, which had fallen through with her. They quickly relaxed when they saw that it was only a very handsome cat, with markings which in our own world would have identified it as a Siamese (but of course there was no Siam in this world, so the breed was not called that here). It hissed a warning, seemingly directed at Velus, then apparantly decided that there was no real threat and began to groom itself.

1. Fred, Astra and Velus investigated their surroundings, beginning by going through the white swinging doors at one end of the room.
2. Someone came in. Friend or foe?
3. "There's something very odd about that cat," Fred observed.
