Fred was rather dubious about the wisdom of this, but he did as Astra had asked, whilst she walked over to the men. "Hello, boys," she said, turning on a brilliant smile. "May I join you?"

1. Naturally they said yes.
2. At her request to be properly equipped, the Snark had provided Astra with male attire and a dagger to wear at her belt. This seemed not to fit in with her "girly" approach, and so the men smelt a rat.
