Fertal Then I noticed something peculiar about this road. There are channels worn where previous travelers have trod, but the road bed is a sturdy stone. It is a dark stone, with white bands in it. There are few cracks and no signs of crumbling, as I might expect. I call to my companions, and we dig, further exposing it. Literacy does have its advantages, and we are able to read what it says. 218 Leagues from the Hippodrome
