Fred instantly recognised Astra by her long red hair, even before he saw
her face, which was pale but determined. She was still dressed in the
nomads' furs and skins that she had had on when he left her, for the gown
that she had been wearing when he found her was a write-off.
"M'lady!" Fred called down to her. "Stay where you are. I'll be right down." Astra looked up and saw him. She smiled. "You heard me coming, I take it? I congratulate you on your skills." Fred completed climbing down to the ground. "What are you doing here?" he asked her angrily. "You are a sick woman. You should be resting back at the healers. I will take you back at once." "Pah, we Aqualarian women are not fragile things like your Allarian ladies. I was going out of my mind with boredom back at the nomad camp. They are good people, but there was nothing for me to do but rest, and I've never been very good at that. So I decided that I would accompany you to Collinsport, and I slipped out of the healer's tent when he was called away to another patient." For all that she might protest that she was all right, Fred thought that Astra still did not look at all well. She might have overtaxed herself catching him up, for he had set a good pace. But he could hardly force her to go back if she was unwilling.
