"What would be the point?" Astra asked. "The dragon could have killed us if he'd wanted to. As far as he's concerned, while we're in this dungeon we no longer represent a threat to him. Besides, we have to eat the food sooner or later, if we don't want to starve."

She bent down and picked up one of the trays, took it over to one of the stone tables, and began to eat. "It's actually rather good," she said.

1. Fred and Velus realise that she's right. They too start to eat.
2. Astra hasn't allowed for the dragon's sardonic sense of humour. The food is enchanted.
