Fred finds himself curled up inside a small child's treehouse. It is
terribly complicated, with six or seven levels. It's clean as a whistle,
the only thing indicating children liked it being some old scrolls in a
corner, a stuffed bunny and a badly lettered sign saying 'No wolf-gurls
allow3d!' Fred curled up in a corner, facing a triangular window. The top was flat, allowing a good look onto a slope of grass and trees that led to one of the island's many lakes. Suddenly Loam's head appeared! He was hanging upside down from the roof!He looked ridiculous, all his head-fur hanging straight down. "Hey, kid." he said. "Go away." "No. Look, I know it's a lot to deal with. I was pretty much a wreck for the first week here." "Yeah and so what? You're the big wolf on campus now. I'm just fresh meat." Loam shook his head. "I am pretty much up there alpha wise but nobody is going to give you hell just because you're new. We may be half wolf but we still have our human minds." "Until the moon decides we're animals and now I'm a daddy." "Yeah, well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. You won't be in it alone, everyone helps with the kits." Fred grunted. "What was that?" "Alicia is cute and all but if you think I'm going to get married to her and live in the same house and be Mr. Daddykins, you're all nuts." Loam grunted, grabbed the edge of the window and slid himself in. He landed on his back legs. "Calm down, man. Look, I'll get the re-orientation commitee back together. We haven't seen each other for months. We'll help you find a job, a place to live and hell..." Loam shook his head. "We'll get through it." Fred huffed. "We? Why are you so friendly all of a sudden?" "You need help. I can help. One plus one equals two." Fred shook his head.
