Shortly afterwards, the hag came in, and lit a fire under a cauldron. Soon cooking smells permeated the cavern. Astra feared that before long, she herself would be added to the stew's ingredients.

But then Fred came in, hit the hag, and she crumbled away to dust. Oddly, he seemed oblivious to Astra's presence, even when she called out to him. Even more oddly, he scooped up some of the dust and ate it! Then he fell asleep.

  1. When he awoke, the spell that had hidden Astra from him had dissipated.
