Lord Fred does something unexpected. His insanity wanes just enough for
Fred to realize that he will probably become a murdering psychopath and
slay lots of innocent peeps. Fred performs the rite of the Sangra-Li, which is a one-time only spell which transfers one life force to the closest noble man. This is a White Mage spell taught to all Allarian knights. Thus, mortally wounded knights would do the ritual and a crippled knight would be restored to full health. Though Fred has attacked Bert, his willingness to do the ritual is enough to allow it to work and restore Bert. Yes, Bert had been maimed and dead, but since Fred was fully healthy ('cept his brain) when he did this, it was enough to restore the ol' salt. In fact, he even de-ages about ten years. Bert awakens as Fred's empty sack of meat falls over. Fred's stupid head smashes through a small, polished end table, the only thing Bert had to remember his sainted, carpenter mother by. Bert is confused and despairing.
