Fred's Fungus Playmate

The Fungus was a little taken aback. Anyone who saw him usually either ran off screaming or took a swing at him with their sword. "Er, certainly," he replied. "What game would you like to play?"

"Well, I've been playing 'chase' with Astra - she's a beautiful naked princess - through the caves, but I've just about given up. She's too quick for me."

"I'm not very quick," the Fungus confessed. "Shuffling is what I do best. So if you'd caught her, what would you have done to her?"

"I wouldn't have done anything to her. I expect that once I'd caught her then it would have been her turn to chase me."

"That sounds rather pointless," the Fungus said. "If I ever catch something, I expect either to eat it or to infect it."

1. Fred asked what the Fungus meant by infecting.
2. Fred suggested a game that they could play.
3. Astra, getting bored, came back to see where Fred had got to.
