Fred falls to his face on the beach. Energy courses over him. His limbs
shake and shiver. Investigating seagulls leap back in terror, except for
one that is hit by a beam of light. It would live for a thousand years and
father a million seagulls, causing uncountable biological errors and
dooming the entire seagull race from becoming sentient and solving all the
problems in existence. Anyway, a newly regerated Fred peers up, propping himself on his elbows. He is now a man of about a young forty, at least physically. His hair is dark and poofed out, like the wood carving expressions of a surprised jester. His features are much more sharper, with piercing eyes and a dominating nose. "My!" said Fred. "My third reincarnation, all spent as a knightly warrior. How did I even have kids? Mermaids are compatible with Gallifreyans?...I hope The Master didn't have anything to do with this. Geeze, now where did I leave the whistle?" Fred...well...that identity would fade soon...fiddled in the sopping remains of his clothes. After pulling out sixteen packets of some sort of sugary bean treat, he found a small whistle. He stood up and blew sharply. Then, as he was pocketing the last of the bean treats, there was a blow of air, a strange grinding noise and a tall blue box appeared on the beach. ...Fred...Fred?...The man's heart leapt to see it. The door opened on it's own...
