Ever since childhood, Sir Josh had bad dealings with his mailman. It
wasn't the fact that the mailman hit him up for lunch money or that he
received his comics after the mailman had already read them in the
bathroom, or those
times that the mailman forced him to pose for his wood carving class, or
that Josh was almost always "it"--though these in themselves were
regretable. What really ticked off Josh to no end, and led to the
dramatic confrontation at Foxfire Bridge was that the postman always
knocked twice. He couldn't leave it at once, or even a simple ring of the
doorbell. Day after day, year after year, all those extra knocks wore on
him until he had to take matters into his own hands.
