Fred kills himself out of frustration after suffering a psychotic break.
The Princess, who is called Astra and helps rule a nearby land, stares in
horror. Then practicallity takes over. She wrenches herself onto the floor
and thumps the chair over to Fred's dead body. What a poor sap. She knew
him from past diplomatic missions but did not realize he was so mentally
ill. Suffering only minor cuts, she manages to grab the sword and saw through the ropes. Much later, Astra is dressed in Fred's half-bloodied clothes and armed with all his weapons and supplies. Her hands are bandaged securely, but due to the teachings of Ardua, even deeper wounds would not have noticeably affected her battling skills. Actual fingers would have to fall off for that to happen. Gross. Anyway, Astra has to decide whether to kill the dragon as her original quest demanded or go for backup.
