Unfortunately the King's own wizard wasn't powerful enough to undo the
spell on Velus, but he did cast a spell on a hacksaw that he claimed would
enable it to cut through even magically enhanced chains. (When the Wizard
of Kamiro had grown angry, and had teleported Fred and Velus away, he
hadn't sent along the chains-dissolving scroll that he had earlier said
that they could have.) Fred stored the hacksaw in his pack, together with
a set of women's clothes that he hoped would be the right size for Astra.
Then he and Velus, together with Lord Homer, journeyed back to the entrance to the caves. This took them a couple of days (it was a fair distance), and Fred hoped that Astra wouldn't be getting too impatient. When they entered the caves, and found their way to where Astra had been:
