Follow the Yellow Brick Road

"I think you're right," Astra responded. "Shall we follow this yellow brick road she spoke of, and go and find this wizard?"

"We might as well," Artemis said. "It's not as though we have anything better to do."

They could see the road from where they stood, since it ran right past the woman's house. Conveniently, any doubt as to whether they should follow it to the left or to the right was removed by a signpost pointing left that read "TO THE WIZARD", though it didn't give the distance.

Setting foot on the road, the armoured knight and the two naked women began walking. "I have a strange feeling that I've strayed into a land that could almost be out of the storybooks that I read as a child," Astra remarked. "Not that I ever read anything about a land called Oz or a yellow brick road, but our whole situation doesn't seem to be real somehow."

"I know what you mean," Artemis said. "Hey, isn't that another knight in armour up ahead? Let's catch him up. Perhaps he will be more helpful than the woman was."

They increased their pace and began to close the distance. But as they got nearer, they saw that it wasn't a knight in shiny metal armour after all, but a man who appeared to be made out of tin! "That's not possible!" Artemis gasped - a little too loudly, for the tin man heard her and turned round.

"Hello," he said. "Are you off to see the wizard too? I'm hoping that, with his great power, he will be able to give me a heart." He opened a panel in his chest and showed them that, where in a human being there would be a heart, there was just an empty cavity. "So what are you hoping that he'll do for you?" he went on.

1. "Send us home," Fred said.
2. "Provide us with some clothes," Astra and Artemis chorused.
