Chaos happened.
A strong-looking man in a dark hood took command. He sent Merry and Pippin outside to recover Sam, paid Butterbur some gold for the window and helped Frodo pry off the grating so he could get his ring.
Quite naturally, the thing was free of all gunk and dirt.
Frodo looked at it, lost in thought.

  1. Then he put it in his pocket and went to help the stranger who fell through the roof.
  2. Fred grabbed the ring, pushed Aragon into the returning Sam and ran out the door.
  3. Grima Wormtongue offered to buy the ring for a pile of gold the size of a full grown horse and as wide as a cart.
  4. Bilbo rushed in, naked and screeching about harpies.
