The Dog and the Device

Fred enters the outhouse. The outhouse is luxurious, cleaner and fancier than most castles Fred has lived in. Fred notes that it is a "two- holer", top of the line.

There is no reading material here. Instead, there is an odd device. A little box with thin, black circular disk on it, with concentric grooves. There is something like a metal arm, with a little needle in it, resting on the disk. Jutting from the box is a large horn, like Fred might use to summon his comrades in a hunt. There is a little white dog with black ears sleeping next to the box. Fred observes the dog's collar has a piece of metal hanging from it, with one word - "Nipper."

Fred sits down on the "seat" closest to the dog and the device. After a few minutes pass, Fred looks closer at the disk, and reads the label:
