Unfortunately, when Fred had been laid low by the blow, he had stumbled
into an open door and fallen face first into a forgotten, spilled pile of
women's underwear. Forgotten in the heat of battle, that is. So when Fred was found, he was covered in bras and panties. And head wounds weren't that well known, nobody in this era quite understood the relation between being konked on the head and possibly singing show tunes at random for a long time later. Fred repressed his urge to sing show tunes as he wondered how to gain the respect of his men. Fortunately, the base had suffered no casulaties but it might have, with the blow to the morale and command it had suffered.
