Creatures of the Moment...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 29256

Fertal

But. . . .I have a. . . .situation. Understatement in the extreme.

Yes, Fertal is in a bit of a pickle, eh? While not as much trouble as before, what with Randall Flagg on the scene, a creature who's tale is an arch villian from many of Stephen King's novels. Very powerful and evil chap, that Flagg. Much more so than what Fertal could handle, even unfrozen by spell! No, right now as it stands the Champions of Terra Prime would be rather out of their legue going up against Flagg....

Yes, even the dear Doctors (Who, Which, or Dr. Four)....

Before meeting the diabolical Norns (who filled his head with dreams of conquest and dominion over his own Empire of sorts), he'd been dangerous. But now he was....much worse! See, the thing is that this Demon, when his physical body was destroyed, came back again. Back again but with only vague and misty impressions of his prior life. This was a good means for his Bosses to keep him in check. Keep him from becoming too powerful (and abitious). Now, with the Norns' help, he remembered what he'd forgotten. He was now able to aply what he could not have learned from before. Remember things he'd learned (but forgotten). Yeah, big problem. He was now very powerful, but hid it away from his Bosses whilst he plotted against them.

But, of course, we've covered this well elsewhere. Oh, in the end he was destoryed permanently, and the Dark Tower (the center of all things) was safe, but with time travel? Hah! Still a lot of him will be seen and heard from. Lots of things to still happen. Lots of havoc!

Point in fact perhaps in the future a real fight between an Elder Champion and he will take place (being that this Elder Champion will be a credible opponent to Flagg should be an interesting fight).

Later. Maybe.

Let us instead concentrate on the here and now, shall we?

Well, at least some good news here. Flagg had handed what basically amounted to the deluxe version of the nuclear bombs of magic. Wanted Belboz to monkey around with that Crystallic with this world's incredibly rickety Slipgate system, causing a malfunction within that would not only destroy this world, but rip big holes in parallel universes as well (thus to weaken further the already strained Beams...the backbone/railway system/whatever coming from the Black Tower.

Instead of seizing on the part in the book's index about how the Crystllic served as a key to the Slipgate (the very thing that Belboz/Minestus wanted to use to use in a ritual to teleport part of his Hord in order to break the Bond that had formed between himself and the Glider's lands in the hopes it would cure him of his increasing age and growing weakness or whatever). No, instead the guy sees the part about how at a distance, the very forms of a target (if location known or otherwise locatable via scrying) could be permanently changed into new and ....interesting forms.

Belboz, who'd put the still paralyzed Fertal to sleep with spell, at first toys with the idea of trying this new...toy... on his unwelcome guest there. Instead, he'll try it....

On both this reality's Fred and Astra (who'd gotten seperated from Checkers in the chaos of it all, if only for the moment)!

So, while the Champions (who'd been chasing Artizza who'd successfully (and luckily) resisted the sleep spell) suddenly notice that the place they'd vacated is rather....undisturbed for such a grisly scene of death (no scorch marks or whatever....nothing but a bit of marks in the sand) they all suddenly hear the most....weird and eldritch sounds!!

  1. Something like a duet of screams...coming from increasingly inhuman throats?!
