In retrospect, Fred couldn't really remember what had made him decide to
press the buttons. After all, it hadn't exactly been a sensible thing to
do. He'd had a strange jolt of panic as he looked into the circle. He
backed away and started pushing the buttons, desperate to make the strange
circle go away.
When he'd pushed all the buttons, however, his panic had gone. He was filled with peace as a light began to shine in the circle, dim at first but then terrifyingly bright. He felt a strange urge to enter the light, and his feet began to move forward.
