To her utter astonishment, Artizza (as a dark elf immune to Flagg's
illusion) has found herself being swung off her feet by Astra 9, and then
carried off down one of the tunnels leading away from Belboz's chamber.
Jarlath runs alongside. Artizza has seen the remainder of the Champions
run off down another tunnel, and this world's Astra, Fred and Checkers
take yet a third, leaving Belboz and Fertal the only ones left behind.
She struggles in Astra 9's grasp but her elven body has nothing like the strength of the warrior woman's. "What the $*!? do you think you're doing?" she cries. "Have you all gone mad? Put me down at once! I don't trust the necromancer one little bit, and judging from how still Fertal was when we left I think Belboz may have him under a holding spell." Astra 9 and Jarlath exchange sad and worried glances. From their viewpoint, it seems that Artizza's mind has been unable to accept the horrific sight of Fertal's demise, and she has blanked it out. Artizza realises that Astra 9 isn't going to release her willingly, and decides that extreme measures are called for. "Sorry, sister!" she says, as she brings her knee up hard into Astra 9's solar plexus. Startled and winded, the woman relaxes her grip. Artizza slips out of her grasp, and starts running back the way they have come.
