the Physics of Spitballs

"I... I... can't believe what you have done," said the teacher ignoring the previous spitball.

Another spitball hit the Doctor in the back of the head. "OW!" said the Doctor this time turning and staring into the rows of seats and students.

"You just... just grabbed my chalk," continued the teacher. "Look at what you have done."

The Doctor was expectant in his waiting for the praise he knew was coming his way. Yet a third spitball hit the Doctor in the back of the head. "OW!" said the Doctor again and did not turn back to look at the teacher as he had done the first two times. He knew he didn't have to look at the teacher to hear his praise.

"You... you have RUINED my lesson!!!!" said the teacher his voice straying from the monotone only in the word ruined.

"What?!?" said the Doctor.

A fourth spitball hit the Doctor yet again in the back of the head (as he had turned to face the teacher when praise was not forthcoming). "OW! OW! OW! and STOP that!!!" yelled the Doctor. The class erupted in laughter, a laughter egged on by the Master who was hiding a straw in his left hand.

"Young man," said the teacher to the Doctor, "come with me this instant." And the teacher led the Doctor out of the classroom while the other students continued to laugh.

Ragan whispered to the Master, "Why didn't the scanners go off or something?"

"Who knows and who cares?" responded the Master.
