Shining Twins

The hall was not what <insert name here> had thought a castle hall should be. It was musty, dusty, and stank of urin and food that had most definitely gone bad. A few spiders played in the shadows upon their webs while a lone rat slinkered up the stone stairs.

After some time with no king reappearing, <insert name here> climbed the staircase (finding no trace of before-mentioned rat) and walked down a lonely hallway. The stone walls supported a timber flooring that had the scent of forest still upon it. There were portraits hung on the walls and a torch was shoved into the crannies between the blocks about every two meters. The little tour was most informative but <insert name here> soon became very bored.

Then a door farther down the hallway opened a crack and the wide eye of some child could be seen peeking out. The door quietly opened and two girl-children came out. They were about four feet tall and wore identical dresses with identical slippers and had their hair tressed in an identical pattern; in fact, the two girls were identical twins. They said nothing but only stared at <insert name here>. A strange melody could be heard as if from some unseen music box and then, with no warning, their heads split open and blood gushed from out of them like a water balloon punctured by a nail. <insert name here> ran from that hallway but the blood kept coming closer, and closer and closer........

1. <inh> dove into an open room, shut the door and with a heavy breath collapsed. Though the foolish tourist stopped gasping, the sound of breathing continued. With one eye open <inh> saw a man with an axe sitting on a bed.
