"My son," the Duke began, "I have no clue," he ended. Fred was mystified at his father's cryptic remark. The Duke had always been a veritable treasore trove of knowledge. "Surely..." "Ask Mr. Owl, he lives in the Great Oak that grows on the highest craggy precipice of Usher Hill. He'll know, he is very old and wise."Fred stormed out of his father's lavish office, making quite a scene and spectacle for the castle servants, and away from Bannock altogether, his rage mounting with every minute. First he had been fed a load of horsehockey from that snobby, foul-breathed wizard (his breath had reeked of onion, as does many a mouth of many a mage and their ilk - for mystical reasons, something to do with warding off evil spirits...with the unfortunate side-effect of warding off women and people in general), then his father had brushed him off in his most urgent hour of need, and now he was actually about to talk to some stupid old owl. His father's advice had never let him down before, however, and if he advised he consult some owl in the east, then who was he to argue. It's just that Dred had always seemed level-headed, and it was very unlike him to give such strange council to his own son. Heck, worse that could happen is that Fred would take a pleasant hike with a nice view. Perhaps he could bring a picnic basket and a tea kettle and just make the whole thing a splendid outing! It would give him a good excuse to take a little breather, and he'd still be undertaking an important aspect of the Quest. Seemed he always had a Quest, as if it was Never Ending. On to Usher Hill!
