Brick Stairs Going Down

Lord Fred takes the brick stairs going down, on the theory that heat rises. Fortunately, this proves true, as it gets chilly on the way down. Soon the stairs open up into a large room. It is dark and dank and full of many strange pipes and machinery. Some pipes shoot heat. Some rattle. Dials spin. A boxy shape shudders. The metallic equipment seems to be scattered in a purely random pattern. But at least it is cool.
Lord Fred sees that there is a clear tunnel to the left. To the right is another passageway but strange looking tiny metallic objects litter the floor. Barring that, Fred could just forage ahead, through the maze of equipment. Going back up wasn't an option, for the heat had been too much.
