Until then, Fred had only heard of this type of enchantress, one who would take over multiple personalites. Often they would become so overloaded with memories that they would become confused, sickly people. Sylvia, however, appeared in control of her faculties.

Sylvia cackled again, this time with a wicked laugh. Fred drew his sword and backed up a step. Suddenly the dog started to mutate and transform. Its hind legs grew longer and its paws bore huge claws. Fred attempted to attack it with his sword, but a wave of Sylvia's hand threw him back against a tree. As he landed his left hand found a heavy stick. "Fetch!!" he shouted and threw the stick as far down the beach as he could. The dog/man or man/dog was still in a state of mental transformation and hobbled down the beach after the stick.

Sylvia turned "HEEL!!" she shouted, but it was too late. Fred's sword twisted through her neck. A grayish brown blood started to poor out of her artery. At least he had Dragonslayer. A non-magical sword would have never pierced her. The dog/man appeared confused and ran away into the woods.

Fred paused and examined the blood. By legend, if he drank the blood he would assume some of the enchantress' magical powers, though if he drank too much, he would become a strange personality.
