Fred runs along side the carriage and tosses the necklace and earings
through the window. The carriage carries on about a hundred yards and
stops. Slowly, the carriage turns around and comes back to where Fred is
standing. The curtain opens and the head of the hooded lady peeps
through. "Who is this who returns these lost items to me?" "It is I, Lord Fredderigo," replies Fred. "You do not look like a Lord, though you act and sound as one." "I was banished by your king as I serve another." "Ah, you were the one who rescued the princess. We have heard of you. Quickly, quickly, get in." Fred gets into the dark carriage with the two ladies. "We are Carolyn and Elizabeth," says Carolyn, the hooded figure. "You have certainly proved that you are worthy as a knight. Let us take you to your chateau where we can provide you with a horse to travel back to your own country." Fred agrees and they travel back, talking all the way. Apparently there has been a rash of thievery in the area and no one knows what to do. They are very concerned, since they have items of great worth. It is very late when they arrive at their chateau.
