Fred uses the feather to fly away from the mysterious pirate named Bert. Twenty minutes later he lands near a clear pond overlooking miles of forest trail.
He tucked the feather safely away, cleaned up as much he could, drank, ate some elderberries (his favorite) and walked. He still had the feather, of course, but he would keep that for emergencies. Such as from getting away from insane pirates.
Fred walked for some time until he came to civilization.
