Hunting the what now?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 26827

As Sirs Josh and Toby stood pondering what to do with the freed prisoners, a strange apparation rushed by, screaming incoherently. They had barely time to identify it as Sir Lots covered with Lots of duck feathers, then he was gone again. They looked at each other.

"Did he say the wumpus is sucking its feet?" Josh asked, an eerie expression of disgust spreading across his face.

"No, no," Sir Toby lectured. "He meant the wumpus has sucker feet. You see, almost as soon as Greg Yob had invented the wumpus, players started wondering what the critter looked like, so they came up with some details based on how it worked in the game. The superbats can't carry it off, so it must be very heavy. It doesn't fall into bottomless pits, so it must have sucker feet. And so on."

"I see," replied Sir Josh, feeling a bit older and wiser.

  1. Actually Josh was right the first time. The wumpus is indeed sucking its feet. All together now: "EEEEEEEEEEEWWW!!!"
  2. The big heavy wumpus (with sucker feet) comes galumphing across the plain, trampling them all.
  3. A curved arrow comes flying from behind a tree and hits Sir Josh in the small of the back.
  4. A curved arrow comes flying from behind a tree, barely missing Sir Toby. Moderators get all the advantages.
  5. Sir Lots returns carrying a straight bow.
  6. Another classic game reference.
  7. "I beg to differ," one of the former prisoners chimes in. (Where did he get that bell from anyway?) "It sounded to me like he said 'Soylent Green is made from people!'"
  8. Another obscure movie reference.
  9. The wumpus' feet are easily tricked. (The obligatory pun option)
