I tried to run the sensors but all I got was a nasty electrical shock,
then N'Sync started playing. Stupid computer activated the historical
classics! What the hell kind of crosswiring hatchet job did Jonesy do?
Jonesy was my Mr. Fix-it. However, he's been the cause of so many screw- ups lately I sometimes wondered if he had been replaced by a surgically- altered Renubian [26718]. Usually when I was drunk. But why N'Sync? Some cultures use that as a form of torture. I know, I've been there. Anyhoo, it's something I'll have to try and get sorted out at Weston II. Back to the lifeboat. There was no answer from my hails which meant that if there was anybody onboard they were either dead or not answering for some reason. I didn't like it. Something didn't seem right. I made my decision. With N'Sync still playing, I activated the main engines and got the hell out of there. Just in time, too. The lifeboat exploded with enough force to take out a small moon. It had been a trap, though not necessarily set for me considering the area of space I was in. Obviously whoever had sent the lifeboat adrift had rigged it with a really powerful explosive. This type could be detonated by remote control, but I thought it unlikely in this case. It was more likely to have been triggered by a proximity sensor. If it had functioned properly the Astra and I would be so much space dust. Slightly shaken from my close call, I reset my course to Weston II.
