Of Sacrifices

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 26447

"Ha!" sais the Dragon. "I did some checking while you both were unconscious. You both LIE!"

The two women felt something more than discomfort at the thought of the Dragon's checking but it was Ardua who bounced back first: "Ha to you you skin-changing, child-eating, no-good-excuse of a puss bag!" Both the Dragon (in his human form) and Astra looked at Ardua with surprise (a glint of humor showed in Astra's eyes while it appeared that the Dragon's feeling may actually have been hurt). Ardua continued: "I may have had sex with my ex-boyfriend's best friend... but my heart again has been purified, I have a new and robust purity that my past cannot destroy! I am an spiritual virgin! Ha! Tell that to your demon-spawn, goat-sucking, third-eyeball wincing Master!" Again Astra and the Dragon stared at the woman.

The Dragon was silent for a few seconds. Then he burst into laughter. "Hahahabwahahaha! spiritual virginity, my word! Never heard of it, and e'en if I did twould not matter a bit. You see, my Master doesn't care about spirits or souls or emotions or thoughts, for Malkazor it all comes down to the nitty-gritty, the hard- cold facts, the warm-blooded flesh. It's not like he can feed your soul to his flies, now, can he?"

The Dragon begins to change just then, his flesh bubbling and burning as if a great fire was held under and within that mortal frame. The skin began to stretch and peel and scales showed from underneath and his size grew and grew. There was the sound of cracking, as if bone was struck by bone and a slurping slither of meat most tender. Within but a few moments the form of the Dragon-man was replaced by simply the Dragon.

"Aaaaah, that feels better," said the Dragon with his mind, a grating thought aimed at the two women who heard it with an uncomfortable wince. "Goodbye." With that word the Dragon's claws shot out at Ardua, piercing her rib cage in a bloody eruption of spray, while the Dragon's tail swiped from back to front and skewered Astra, also through the torso - the look of surprise on Astra's face was a sweet prize to the Dragon. The women were dead. Yet he did not feed on their bodies, rather, as he carried both corpses to a new chamber he was singing. It was no simple song, rather a prayer of great power, a ritualistic chanticle known to but a few, the Song of Lord Fly

What the Dragon didn't know was at that moment Fred, still in the Library, had just finished reading the tome entitled: "The Proper Care and Feeding of One's Master and Fiend."

What Fred didn't know was that that knowledge would come in handy very, very soon.

  1. Follow Fred, still within the underground library...
  2. Follow Velus, where had that tiny tunnel taken him?
  3. Follow the Dragon as he takes the sacrifices to his Master...
