Fred bolts

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 26267

"Screw this!" said Fred as he picked up his sword, turned around and walked back up the road to where his squire was waiting with the horses.

"Back already?" the squire asked as Fred got into the saddle. "That was quick!"

"Nuts to you!" Fred snarled, spurring his horse. "I have had enough of this! Too much magic and death and stuff. I'm going to retire and grow exotic orchids."

"What about me?" the squire sulked. (By the way, his name was Elizabeth. His parents had really wanted a girl, you see.)

"Oh, you can help with the weeding and watering and stuff," Fred said generously as they rode off into the sunset. Only it wouldn't be a sunset for hours yet, on account of them leaving early and all.

They had ridden about half a league when they came around a bend and found the Dragon lying across the road, blocking it completely.

"You didn't think I was going to let you get away that easily, did you?" the wyrm smirked.

  1. "Yes I did," Fred said. "What are you complaining about? It's a forfeit, you win!"
  2. "There is the little matter of the Dragon Tax," the Dragon explained.
  3. "It is rude to leave without staying for tea," the Dragon complained.
  4. "Nobody steps on a church in my town!" Elizabeth blurted.
  5. Fred rode in the left nostril.
  6. Fred rode in the right nostril.
  7. A Story Cop points out that the chapter should really mention a washer to make the joke complete.
