And so Astra (with frog Fred securely wrapped with bandages onto her
shoulder) and Velus found the exit to the Caves. Not the exit,
mind you, but an exit... as I'm sure you've guessed that there must
be literally dozens of seams, hootholes, crevices, and nickynooks leading
out from the mystical myriad of ways and means known as the Dragon's
Caves of the Shreken.
The threesome stood (well, Fred just sorta squatted) within the tunnel looking outwards, looking out past the burbling streamlet that gurgled out past them, looking out beyond the rays of some sort of magic, looking out and directly at a group of two men, one woman, and three children. Astra cried out: "By Petra's inner thigh! Those are none other than the motley band of adventurers I helped before reaching these blasted caves!!!" "Ho!" cried out the woman from outside. "Is that you, Astra?" "Yes! It is I!" Astra ran towards the group with Fred in tow and Velus following. "Do not come any nearer," said Astra. "These caves are cursed with evil magicks." Once everyone was reunited outside the cave entrance/exit, Astra did some introductions: "This is Lord Frederigo D'Honaire of Suffex of Allaria, he has been cursed by the Dragon; and this is Velus, peasant farmboy of Stonehold of Allaria, also cursed by the Dragon." The woman and children mumbled their own curses at the Dragon. Then Astra turned to Velus and petted Fred once. "These folk are wanderers from afar**. The men are Alf and Pelt... forgive them that they don't speak, but their tongues were cut out after some disagreements and misunderstandings in the region of Apolonia in the south. This fine woman is Taia and these three children are Golf, Rolf, and Teri." **wanderers from afar. In Aqualaria this term indicates people that have come from the far south and/or southwest... the Mysterious Lands of which the warrior-women have little contact.
