The rock shattered into many pieces, and Fred had to duck hurriedly to
avoid being hit by a ricochet. But the glass over the magical viewing (and
more importantly listening) device was not even scratched.
"If the dragon could hear everything that was said in the throne room, then would that mean that he would have been warned that you were coming here intending to slay him?" Astra asked. "Yes," Fred muttered. "I discussed my quest with the King in that very room. This is bad, very bad." "At least we've found your friend Velus, and he's none the worse for wear," Jorn said. "Given what we've learnt, do you still intend to go on with your quest, or do you want to go back to your King and warn him that he's being spied on? I imagine that a skilled wizard could put wards in place round the throne room that would cut off the link."
