Three Freed

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 25959

Fred didn't know where to look as Astra (as he had heard her called) set about freeing the other girls. It was bad enough with only one naked maiden, but now there were seventeen! Still, he was supposed to be on guard, so he could keep his gaze rigidly fixed on the tunnel by which the three of them had entered the room, in case the dragon approached from that direction.

From the conversation he overheard, it soon became clear that the other girls looked on Astra as their leader. Not only was she the most senior - being heir to the throne of Aqualaria - but, more importantly, she was the bravest and most assertive. Fred guessed that was the reason why the dragon had separated her from the others.

He wondered about Astra's suggestion that her lockpick had magical properties. In Allaria, they knew little of magic, but perhaps things were different in Aqualaria.

His musing was interrupted by an unwelcome sight at the far end of the tunnel. "The dragon's coming!" he called.

Astra looked up from where she had just finished freeing a petite girl with raven hair. "Damn!" she said. "I'll come back for the rest of you as soon as I can. Now, those of you who are free - and Fred - this way, quick!"

"But I'm here to kill the dragon," Fred protested. "I shouldn't flee from him."

"You wouldn't stand a chance, believe me," Astra told him. "There's no time to argue. Come on!"

The force of her personality was such that Fred found himself following her, as she and the other three girls who were free ran out of the room through a passage at its far end. (It was lucky that the dragon hadn't approached from that direction, since Fred had been looking fixedly the other way.) Velus ran along beside him.

  1. They get away.
  2. Before they get very far, the dragon overhauls them.
