Attacked by a Bat

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 25912

Ardua balanced on the slimy outflow pipe, and prepared herself to try again, for clearly she couldn't stay where she was indefinitely. "Are you all right?" Astra asked her, pressed against the rockface some seven feet above the pipe. She daren't look down, or she might lose her balance.

"Yes, I'm fine," Ardua replied. But no sooner were the words out of her mouth than she wasn't fine. This was because a large black bat had appeared and started to attack her. She no longer had her sword; she and Astra had both lost their weapons when the ledge had collapsed. So she waved at it with her hands as it flapped its wings in her face and threatened to get its claws caught in her hair.

  1. She loses her balance and falls, and the bat turns its attentions to Astra.
  2. Fred picks up a loose rock from the platform that he's standing on, and throws it at the bat in spite of the risk of hitting Ardua.
  3. Ardua swings herself down into the inside of the outflow pipe, to provide herself with some protection from the bat.
