Fred and Astra struggled to hold on to the contents of their stomachs at
the sight of the revolting thing that was shambling down the staircase
towards them. "What the devil is it?" Fred muttered.
"I don't know," Astra replied, "and I've no intention of hanging around to find out. Bravery is all very well, but to take on something like that would just be stupid." Fred and Astra turned to run. But one of them tripped and fell:
