The Library was an impressive structure; easily four stories tall with
clear-paned windows and numerous balconies. It was made of brown and
beige stone with a facade of painted wood where the main entrance stood, a
facade painted purple. It also leaned over (just a bit), an architectural
flaw or feat that seemed to draw Fred towards it. Fred and Lomack had
walked on a small stone-lined path to get to the main doors, a path that
led off from the main street that was cobble-stoned. Various morphs were
sitting on the steps that led up to the library, humming, smoking weed,
chatting or reading. But though all this oddness would otherwise have
consumed Fred's attention, he now had only a mind for Lomack and his
words: "You know, you should mind your business."
"Mind my business?!!?" whispered Fred back in as much control as he could muster. "This IS my business! Ever since I was sent to this gawdawful place this IS my business! Ever since I became... became... less than a man this IS my business!" "So it is," said Lomack scratching his chin. "But you don't get it do you? You have no clue what you just witnessed, you have no clue who we are, you have no clue of our Way." Fred was ready to strangle the morph simply because of how calm and disinterested his words were spoken. "You're right! I have no clue, and now you tell me that it is NOT my--" "Nnnnnot verrrrry paissssssshunt, issssss heeeeee?" came an eerie voice from Fred's left. Upon turning Fred saw a salamander-morph. His first reaction was one of pure disgust. His second was of pity. The salamander continued: "You musssst finnnnd paissssshunce. Thossssse who dooooo noooot..... go maaaaad." "Like the fellow how attacked this city?" asked Fred. The salamader and the wolf gave each other a knowing look before the salamander answered: "Yesssssss." Fred looked at the ugly morph, "What is your name?" he asked. "Chuck," said the salamander. "A name eassssssy forrrrrr my moisssssst tongue tooo sssssssspeak."
