Shadow War: First Blood, Part II

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 24923

Somewhere in the Independent Duchy of Franken, east of Allaria:

A horseman sped through the countryside, raising the alarm through the countless hamlets that dotted the hills surrounding the city of Verboten. "Fear! Fire! Foes!" went his cry. "The Cavaliers of Hespan are marching west! Even now they are passing through the independant fiefdom of Lux! The Confederacy of Eastern Fiefdoms and Hespan have united! To arms! To arms! Only the Duchy of Haunt now stands between us and the Cavaliers, but they will surely be overwhelmed!..."

Yet even as this horseman and many others sped through the back roads and sounded the cry to arms, little did they know that most of Haunt had already fallen to the Cavaliers.

When the (so far nameless)Little Girl had finally reclaimed the amulet that had been stolen from her centuries earlier, she had once again been able to spread her influence from beyond the veils of this reality. Embarking on a multi-dimensional recruitment drive was no easy feat, and the Mist-Walker Eryine had only made it harder for her. It seemed Erinye had launched a multi-deminsional recruitment drive as well[24839, 24895]! However all of their attempts to gather a force in the other realities had been thwarted, and they had finally given up. Though it had taken them months of toiling in the parallel worlds, hardly any time had passed in their own. It seemed every plane of existence they visited was frought with obstacles and meddling do- gooders, who time and again would block and disrupt their attempts in one way or another.

Erinye cursed the fact that her only earthly alliances were with the ethereal Fey, hardly a force capable of accomplishing anything physical. Well, she did have...them. But they were a wild card, along with the Thoabath. Just as likely to help rouse up a Shadow War as they were of stopping it. At least for the time being the Thoabath had seemed to calm down and come to her senses, temporarily allying with the one who had made her a hellspawn. She was one of the few that could directly challenge Erinye's little snakeling.

The War was probably already beginning, and Erinye knew she would have to assist the forces of Light ere all was said and done. She shuddered at the thought, but she knew her daughter's hatred for her and Oberon was endless. Her only hope then would be to end the War as soon as possible. If the Greater Powers of Hell discovered it was her spawn that had started the turmoil, she'd most certainly be toast.

Somewhere in the bowels of upper-Hades the Demoness continued to plot, every second becoming more worried...
