Unexpected Visitor

"Brnahaa'kk'jiorg!" he said, pointing at Fred. "Grbahoink, emlag-kjia-ffxn arg, lorbagabash!"

"I can't understand what you're saying." Fred shrugged.

The clown became angry. He turned livid in the face and started bouncing up and down, shaking his fists and yelling "Glamradur! Ebexne! Graa! Mulkahangriok'yyrnobes! Ashijfhwlo!"

"Ashi... what do you want with her?!" Fred exclaimed. Could this imposing Lenocuse be Ashijfhwlo's father? Fred certainly wouldn't mind him taking Ashi off his hands. He had grown to like the girl, but he knew the road ahead was a long and dangerous one. For the same reason, he had to make sure this clown meant her no harm.

The big clown sighed and stopped jumping. Instead, he started miming. At first confused, Fred realized that by leaning low, winking seductively and making 'heehee' noises, the clown was showing Ashijfhwlo. Then the clown stood up straight, pointed to himself and leaned back, closing his eyes and making snoring noises. Then Ashijfhwlo again, then himself again, concluding by pulling his pockets out to show they were empty, then glaring at Fred angrily.

"Ashi stole your money?" Fred couldn't help grinning.

The clown shook his head and pointed to a wall of maces.

"She stole your mace?"

The clown roared in anger and pointed to other weapons. Fred suddenly realized that if he didn't play this guessing game correctly the clown would attack him.

"She stole a weapon from you... right?"

The clown nodded, then shook his head slightly and made a 'disquisted' gesture in the direction of the weapons.

"A better weapon than even these? But what?"

The clown sighed in frustration. "Ashijfhwlo." he said. Then he pointed to Fred, afterward raising his hand to his eyes and looking around as if scanning the horizon. Then he pointed to himself again.

"If I see her, you want me to tell you? Allright, I shall."

The clown nodded. Then he shot Fred one last threatening glance and strode out of the armoury.

Fred didn't know whether to be happy for avoiding a fight, or angry at Ashi for turning out to be such a sneaky little thief. She emerged from behind a rack of weapons. The girl was shaking visibly. "Goroho'koo'koo'k'joob." she said fearfully, pointing in the direction the clown had left in.

Suddenly Fred realized he had made an important discovery. The Lenocuse could understand Common, even if they couldn't speak it.

"Ashi, what did you steal? Show me?"

Ashijfhwlo shook her head. Then she pointed to her mouth, and then her stomach.

"What?! You ate it?" Fred sputtered.

Things were getting stranger by the second. Fred decided to...

1. ...continue interrogating Ashijfhwlo as to the nature of her theft.
2. ...forget about it.
3. Suddenly, a team of goblin commandos burst in, demanding "Allright, where's the clown?!"
