Two Kings

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 24720

Within Allaria the King's messengers were sweeping through every Duchy with the speed of eagle's wings and soon all the people would come to know of the betrayal of Lord Fred. The story the King was spreading was simple, that Lord Fred had gone into the Southern Caves a hero but had returned from those caves a black hearted villain. Sneaking back into the nation in secret he had led a revolt in Trescent which toppled the goodly rule of the loyal Duke Zular. If not for the swift action of the King and his Troupes Divina, Lord Fred would surely have then sought to strike against the King's throne itself. But King Emry, ever wary of any threat against his people, rushed to Trescent's rescue and destroyed Lord Fred's fledgling army, sending the vile traitor fleeing into the countryside for his very life. Now the King wanted every man and woman to be on the look- out for the traitor and his messengers made it clear that King Emry would not rest until Lord Fred had paid for his crimes.

But why had Lord Fred turned against Allaria, the people asked. And the messengers answered that Lord Fred was now in league with dark forces. And this answer satisfied the people, for by now they had heard of the destruction of Penn by a headless dragon and other stories too, of a plague upon the countryside of black vipers and demon beasts. Truly the Darkness was reaching out, sowing destruction where it could, and its corruption had even subverted a once great hero like Lord Fred.

And so the story went, from town to town, hamlet to hamlet, as the King's messengers rode across the width and breadth of Allaria.

Within Hespan the King's messengers were sweeping through every district and city with the speed of eagle's wings and soon all the people would come to know of the murder of their Queen. The story that King Ferinand was spreading was simple, that in the dead of night a traitor to the Crown had crept into Queen Isidora's chambers and strangled her to death. Although the King was away, still the foul deed was quickly discovered and the murderer just as quickly found out. To everyone's shock it was discovered that the gentle Queen had been slain by one of her most trusted advisors. And to everyone's outrage it was also discovered that the betrayer had struck at the behest of the Kingdom of Allaria.

King Ferinand was filled with wroth and vowed to avenge the Queen's murder. The traitorous advisor was dead, killed in a fight with royal guardsmen before he could be brought before the Council of the Crown, but the proofs found within his private chambers left no doubt in anyone's minds who the true architect of this crime was. King Emry of Allaria.

And so the King's messengers went from town to town, hamlet to hamlet, spreading the dark tidings of Queen Isidora's death. And too, they were raising the call to arms. King Ferinand intended to march to war. Even now the elite knights of the kingdom, the glorious Cavaliers, were mustering their ranks. And each village and city was expected to gather men for the war as well. It would be a great army that King Ferinand led into Allaria and he vowed that he would not leave until all of the enemy was crushed.
