Astra stripped off, and took a few minutes to wash herself and her clothes
as thoroughly as she could manage without soap or a scrubbing brush. Then
she got dressed again. The woollen shirt had been the hardest item to
wash. And even though it was now relatively clean, soaked as it was it was
rather unpleasant to wear. Fortunately her leather pants and boots had
fared much better.
She wondered which way she should go now. There was a risk that the castle at the top of the cliff might belong to her enemies - whoever they were. (She still had no idea whether her captors had been working for the dragon or independently.) She had not come all that far from where she had been imprisoned. But would the men have maintained a permanent enough presence in the caves as to justify even an improvised sewer system, if they had a castle at their disposal not far away? Also, at the castle she might be able to find out where she was.
