Turning Up the Heat

As the years had passed, Fred's reign as leige of the Lava people had given him a taste for cruelty, and his heart was almost as cold as the dark marble which comprised his throne. Yet the heat of his underground kingdom constantly burned him, and his eyebrows and hair had long since been scorched off entirely.

The Lava people had been good to him, and had indeed bent over backwards to insure that his every need was met. This sycophancy combined with Lord Frederigo's own twisted feelings of abandonment. He'd been a beloved champion, for certain, but the King favored others, such as Fred's own older sister. With a chorus of yes men whispering their hot lava fancies in his burnt ears, Fred began to see his former quest as merely a conspiracy to remove him from the kingdom. One measly knight against a dragon? What was the King thinking?

Fred would pity himself in the evenings. Alone in his royal chamber, he'd cry and cry, though the tears would immediately turn to steam. It was on what would have been Fred's 45th birthday, that he heard news of the King's death from a Lava maiden who had been near a geothermal vent located close to the Castle.

Now was the time to act. But how would Fred enact his revenge upon the kingdom which had cast him out?

1. Assemble a Lava army to take the castle by force.
2. Arrange for an invitation for Fred to the King's funeral.
3. Send Lava wolves to scorch the kingdom's farmlands.
