Tuvok, though he knew he was dreaming, still did not force himself to wake
up. The character of Fox Mulder was a fascinating study in anti-logic
(Paris' incessant nattering about the X-Files holoprogram had raised his
curiosity). Despite Mulder's intelligence and detective skills
concerning 'everyday' detective matters, that all went away once he
encountered the extra-terrestial and the the paranormal. He simply refused
to accept the logic he did when, for example, fighting bank robbers. "I fought many bank robbers." said the figure of Fox. "Indeed." "Yes. I am reading your mind." "No. You are a manifestation of my mind." "Incorrect. I am an alien entity. Observe." Mulder's left arm fell off. "Indeed, I was surprised but that is the nature of non-linear dreams. I have allowed myself many non-lucid dreams in order to study the inherent illogic." "You are making it difficult. Very well. Ensign Broachman of Mars once saw his grandmother punch a Romulan. Ask him." "This would be illogical. Engsign Broachman is a Starfleet Officer. He would have reported such a contact with Romulans." "Please do so. I am not a figment of your imagination. I am an alien. Stranger means of contact has been established in the past." Several hours later, after Tuvok finishes his rest and meditation, he ponders the 'Mulder' figure. Broachman is in the Mess Hall, talking with Kim and Carey...
