Fred, Astra and Alura dashed down the side of the mountain as fast as
their legs would carry them, until they were far enough away to feel
safe. Only then did they realise that Velus was missing.
They looked around, but there was no sign of him. "Poor Velus!" Fred said, shedding a tear. Astra shed one too. "At least it must have been quick," she said. "If you ask me, you're well rid of the stinking dog-boy," Alura said. "What!" Astra said, an appalled look on her face. She had forgotten just what a nasty piece of work her sister was.
