Exotica managed not to scream when she first caught sight of the three-
eyed man. It wouldn't have been very polite, when he and his friends were
offering to help. There were five members of the group, the other four not
much more prepossessing than the three-eyed man, whose name turned out to
be Roger. Apparently his third eye was the result of a spell cast on him
by the dragon, before he had managed to escape and had gone to ground in
the lower depths of the cave system.
The other four introduced themselves as: Martin (who was missing one ear and his left hand); Liz (who seemed normal enough, except that her eyebrows met in the middle, which Exotica had heard was a sure sign of a werewolf); George (who, though human rather than a dwarf, only stood just over four feet tall); and Sally (perhaps the strangest of the lot, as she had a second pair of arms). Fred and Exotica introduced themselves in turn. "Wow, a dragonslayer and a genuine princess," George said in his rather squeaky voice. "We're honoured." Once the introductions had been completed, Fred and Exotica looked at each other, unsure whether a motley crew like this might not prove more of a hindrance than a help. But refusing their offer might anger them, and that would not be a good idea, since they were armed with a mixture of swords, daggers, clubs and a mace.
